Who is responsible
- I, Xhesi Cekrezi, run this site and am responsible for the personal data it collects (the data controller under UK GDPR).
- For any question about your data, or to use any of the rights below, email xhesi@outlook.com.
What is recorded, and why
The legal basis for each of these is legitimate interests: running a portfolio that works, keeping it safe from bots, and seeing which pages people find useful. None of it is used to profile you or make decisions about you.
| Data | What is recorded | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visit log | For each page view: the page, the site that linked to it, your browser, operating system, device type, language, screen size and time on page, and a rough location (city and country) worked out on this server. Your IP address is turned into a one-way code before anything is saved, so repeat visits can be counted without keeping the address. | Seeing which pages are read, and telling people apart from bots | 180 days |
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Page views counted by Cloudflare: the page, the site that linked to it, browser, country and how fast the page loaded. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not fingerprint you. | Overall traffic and page speed | Under Cloudflare's own terms |
| Ask about me chat | Your questions and the answers, any thumbs up or down you give, the same one-way code as the visit log, and a rough location. No IP address is saved. | Answering your questions, limiting how many each visitor can ask, and improving the answers | 365 days |
| AI answers | Each chat question is sent, with the parts of my CV that answer it, to a US-based AI provider that writes the reply. Under its commercial terms it does not use them to train its models. | Writing the chat's answers | Under the provider's API terms |
| Bot check on the chat | When you use the chat, Google reCAPTCHA checks in the background that you are a person. Google receives your IP address and browser details. Google's privacy policy applies. | Stopping bots running up the chat's costs | Under Google's terms |
| Send this chat to Xhesi | Your email address, your name if you give it, your message and the chat so far, sent to me by email. | Replying to you, as you asked | Until the conversation is finished, or sooner if you ask |
| Hosting | The site is hosted by Hostinger, whose servers keep standard web logs, including IP addresses. | Security and fixing faults | Under Hostinger's terms |
Cookies and browser storage
- No tracking or advertising cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics works without cookies, so nothing needs your consent.
- Two cookies keep the site working. A session cookie, which also tells the two players in a Blackjack game apart, and an
XSRF-TOKENcookie that protects forms from being submitted by other sites. Both are strictly necessary, are never used to track you, and expire after two hours without activity. - The chat remembers itself for the tab. While you use the Ask about me chat, the browser's session storage holds its unguessable token and the last few messages, so a page change does not lose the conversation. It is cleared when you close the tab.
Who else sees it
- Only the services named above: Cloudflare (analytics), Google (the chat's bot check), the AI provider (the chat's answers), Hostinger (hosting) and Microsoft (my Outlook email, for chats you send me). Each handles the data under its own terms.
- Cloudflare, Google, the AI provider and Microsoft are based in the US. Those transfers rely on the safeguards in their terms, such as the UK-US data bridge or the UK's approved contract clauses.
- Nothing is sold, rented or shared for advertising.
Your rights
- You can ask for a copy of the data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to it being used. Email xhesi@outlook.com and I will reply within a month.
- Because no names or IP addresses are saved, I may need something to find your data by, such as roughly when you used the chat, or the email address you wrote from.
- You can download your own chat at any time from the chat window.
- If you are unhappy with how your data is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
